Living in Peace

I will both lay me down in peace and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety. – Psalm 4:8

For some people, it is difficult to get any sleep at night because living a peaceable life is sometimes hard to come by.  Knowing what peace is, and actually living in peace, are two different things.  I’m sure everyone has lived in peace at some moment in their life when everything was going good, but staying in peace for some can be a struggle.  The sad part is it’s not supposed to be a struggle.  Even for the mature Christians it can be hard.  Satan pulls no punches.  He would TKO (technical knockout) everyone if he could.  Satan doesn’t want to go 10 rounds to show us he can endure; he wants us to lose as fast as possible.

Well, finding peace is a fight you have to learn how to endure.  If you want to lie down in peace at night you have to resist an enemy who is willing to fight any and every hour of the day.  Don’t go 10 rounds with Satan.  Knock the wind out of his sails in the first round.  God wants you to “dwell in safety.”  Even if you were thrown into a den full of hungry lions, God can still cause you to dwell in safety.  The confidence God gives us is so powerful that when you walk into the lion’s den, those hungry lions will sit on your command and will be eating out of your hand.  Those kitties will be cuddling with you and licking your face while you drift off to sleepy land, dreaming about rainbows and private tours of your favorite candy factories.

The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace. – Psalm 29:11

Is there anything more comforting than knowing that the God we serve can help us be at peace and dwell in safety.

Wherever you are in life in your peace-walk with God, you should remember what Isaiah 54:17 says about warring with an enemy – “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn.”

Sleep in peace mates…the God of the universe is looking out for you.

We Christians aren’t afraid anymore… Here kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty.

“Peace” out.
